The Birth Of An Idea
At times tragedies lead to the birth of an idea. In 2016, a founder's wife had passed away at the age of 73, after 20 years of added life because of a liver transplant which led to the inspiration for the formation of our Foundation.
The germination of this idea could not have been possible but for the great support and help of another Founder trustee Dr Darius Mirza, the world-renowned Liver Transplant Surgeon, based in the UK, who with his huge related experience, enormous knowledge and great spirit of service provided all the support and encouragement.
Transplants - Help the Poor Foundation was thus born in 2017 with 5 fully committed trustees who with their high level of credibility, professionalism and enthusiastic approach jointly continue to drive the Foundation till today.
We fondly remember our dear Mr. Pal, whose vision and foresight helped start Transplants ‘Help the Poor’ Foundation, to
financially help poor patients
in need of lifesaving organ transplants and widen awareness in India about transplantation.
Our Objectives
Eligibility criteria will be determined to provide help and support to the poor to enable them to receive life saving transplants.
Financial support or funding will help for transplant assessment, surgery, hospitalisation and medicines.
Improving education and awareness for encouraging donation - both cadaver as well as live donation.
Training and employment of transplant coordinators.
Our Mission
Provide financial help to poor patients requiring organ transplants as a life saving option, raise public awareness through education and media to help increase organ donation and engage with other stakeholders in the field.
Our Focus And Impact So Far
Our focus, as our name indicates, continues to be to raise funds to financially help the ever-increasing number of poor patients for the life-saving treatment of liver, kidney and heart transplants and we are happy to report that we have so far been able to help 239 patients. This also means that including their families we have touched the lives of over 1000 poor people so far.
Our JEET
JEET stands for Joint Effort to Enable Transplants. And that defines our goal to make Transplants affordable for the poor, raise awareness about organ donation and partner with like-minded organizations/ NGO 's involved in the delivery of transplantation to create an easily accessible network for poor people seeking transplants.
